Privacy Policy

Short version: Word Crypt collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your progress and settings stay on your device. Your voice is recognised by Apple’s speech recognition, on your device when possible. The only purchase data is handled by Apple and our purchase provider, and it is never linked to who you are.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store or receive any personal information. Specifically, there are:

• No accounts, sign-ups, names or email addresses
• No analytics, tracking or advertising
• No access to your location, contacts or photos

Microphone and speech recognition

Word Crypt asks for access to your microphone and to speech recognition so you can cast spells by saying words out loud.

Recognition is done by Apple’s speech recognition. On supported devices and languages it runs entirely on your device. When on-device recognition is not available, the audio of the word you say is sent to Apple to be recognised, under Apple’s privacy policy. Your voice is never sent to us.

You can turn off voice at any time and type your answers instead, and you can withdraw microphone or speech recognition access in your device’s settings.

In-app purchase

Word Crypt offers an optional one-time purchase that unlocks the full game. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID; we never see your name, payment details or Apple ID.

To verify the purchase and restore it on your other devices, the game uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and your purchase history for this game. Nothing that identifies you personally, and nothing used for advertising or tracking.

Data stored on your device

The game saves your progress (floors, runes, your Spellbook and how well you know each word, kept separately for every language pair) and your settings (languages, sound, controls, voice or typing) on your device. It also keeps a small local log of your word attempts and temporary audio files used while recognising what you said. None of this leaves your device or is accessible to us. Deleting the game removes it.

Content and network use

All words, art, music and sounds are bundled inside the game. It only goes online for speech recognition when on-device recognition is not available, and to verify or restore your purchase.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. Its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy.

Children’s privacy

The game is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
